40-Hour Simulations
What exactly is the 40-hour simulation? How does it work?
At the conference, the 40-hour simulation is focused on assessing how delegates adapt to a changing political landscape. EagleMUNC has integrated aspects of the crisis structure into the General Assembly committees, while smaller committees are in complete crisis style. This means all delegates will be able to access portfolio powers, receive response updates from crisis staff, and be able to control the flow of their negations and more up-to-date interactions with crisis staff. In addition, EagleMUNC will be planning additional events for students beyond their committee sessions. Delegates' full participation and interaction with crisis is essential to our awards process
What exactly is the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General?
The Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General is designed for the most experienced and passionate delegates who are ready to respond in a fast-paced environment. The topic will be announced at the conference; however, periodic updates and messages may be released throughout the year. Delegates will be selected through an application process to ensure interest in a highly-active and innovative crisis committee.

During Committee
Is attendance in committee required?
Roll call will be taken and our conference operations staff will take significant measures to track the whereabouts of delegates for the entire duration of the weekend. Delegates are required to be present in committee for fruitful debate and advisors will be informed of delegate absences from regular and midnight crisis committees.
What rules will be in place regarding committees and research?
Depending on whether the committee is a General Assembly, a Hybrid, or a Crisis, they will have different rules. General Assemblies will follow the standard EagleMUNC rules of procedure, with the possibility of rules addenda being added as we get closer to the conference. Our Rules of Procedure is available here. As for research, Delegates will not be allowed to use pre-written or pre-typed resolutions, but there are no other regulations on research binders or further research taking place during the conference outside of committee. Computers are not be allowed in committee, unless approved ahead of time. The Westin Copley Place will provide WiFi for delegates in hotel rooms.
Outside of Committee
How many delegates will be attending the conference?
We are expecting approximately 600 delegates at the conference.
Will meals be provided for the delegates throughout the weekend?
Meals will not be provided at the conference but there are many dining options available in downtown Boston, as well in the Copley Place Mall. The Mall is steps away from the Westin Copley and the hotel itself houses several restaurants.
A typical meal can cost from $8 for a burger and drink to $30+ for a formal dinner. EagleMUNC suggests students bring around $125, depending on personal budget.
EagleMUNC also provides delegates with information regarding restaurants nearby and a few restaurants which will provide delegates with discounts upon presentation of their name badge. This flyer will be found in the delegate packet given on arrival at the conference.

Will there be time for the delegates to explore and experience downtown Boston?
We do wish that delegates remain within the Westin Copley Hotel during committee sessions. During free time and meal hours, delegates are encouraged to explore the downtown area, the Copley Mall, and the historical attractions of downtown Boston.
Advisors remain responsible for the whereabouts of delegates at all times, both during committee session and free time, and it is in no way permissible for delegates or advisors to be outside the Westin Copley Hotel during committee session times.

Hotel Policy
Is staying in the Westin Copley for the entire conference necessary?
Due to the nature of the 40-hour simulation, EagleMUNC's policy remains that delegates may not stay in any hotel other than the Westin Copley. All events and committees, Friday through Sunday, will take place at the Westin and this includes any ‘crisis’ or ‘emergency’ committee sessions. To provide all delegates with the full EagleMUNC experience, they must be available for the entire duration of the conference. Additionally, liability reasons do not allow us to have students traveling without our knowledge outside of the hotel (especially after curfew or during late committee sessions).

Will students leave the Westin Copley as part of the conference experience?
Students will stay in the hotel for all aspects of the 40-hour simulation; this includes all committee sessions, any midnight crises, and any additional organized committee time.
How can delegations book hotel rooms?
During the registration process, we ask that delegations provide information regarding how many hotel rooms, as well as what size hotel rooms, the delegation will need for the conference through the Hotel Request form.. We will communicate this to the hotel to ensure that each delegation receives appropriate rooms and that delegations will be grouped in the same section of the hotel. Advisors will then be contacted by the Westin Copley Place to finish booking and paying for hotel rooms. After reservations are completed, please fill out the Hotel Information form to let us know which hotel rooms you have booked (this will be used during check-in on Friday).
To receive committee position assignments, delegations must have booked and paid for rooms at the Westin Copley.

Liability Forms
Are there any required forms for the faculty advisors to complete?
Faculty advisors will need to fill out the Hotel Information form, which is a faculty and delegate locator form listing the names and rooms of all delegates during the weekend of the conference. This form will be provided closer to the date of the conference. Advisors will also need to fill out the Liability Form.
All forms can be found here.

Are there any required forms for the parents of the delegates to complete?
There is a parental release form and an acknowledgement on the part of the delegate of what is expected of him or her. This must be filled out before the start of the conference, and will be available online. Additionally, our terms and conditions will be available online and via email request before the conference.

View Team Directors here.
Will Position Papers be scored?
Position papers will not be scored, nor will awards be given for them. However, if a delegate requests it, Team Directors will grade position papers for feedback and potential improvements. Position papers are required for consideration for awards in all committees.
Much like delegate performance in committee, they will be assessed for strategic thinking and articulate communication. EagleMUNC is looking for dynamic thinkers.
External Position Papers are required for all crisis and General Assembly committees and those who submit them qualify for individual awards. Internal Position Papers are for students in crisis committees and optional but highly encouraged. These provide a way for crisis staff to have a preview of what our most ambitious and interactive delegates are planning to do. Through these, crisis staff develop a myriad of likely narrative “paths ” that can be followed as the committee session progresses.

What should be the format of delegate Position Papers?
Please click here for information on formatting.
The guideline format for position papers is a maximum of two pages double-spaced, with no penalty for shorter papers. There is no need for formal citation in these papers, but outside research to broaden your perspective is encouraged. Delegates may choose to focus on one of the topics in their background guide or may include multiple in the position paper. While there is no distinct difference between content in crisis and General Assembly committee position papers, delegates should keep in mind the portfolio powers of a nation as opposed to those of an individual. All position papers should be written “in character” of a delegate’s assignment, which would delineate the sole difference between committees will be in if a student is assigned a nation as opposed to an individual.
