The Eagle Institute for Global Affairs and Leadership is a Massachusetts- registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. The non-profit is overseen by a Board of Directors and managed by a team of Corporate Officers. The Eagle Institute consists of three branches: EagleMUNC, The Eagle Global Leadership Initiative (EGLI), and the Eagle Coalition for Global Citizenship, and maintains the goal of fostering leadership and global citizenship among the leaders of tomorrow.
Eagle Global Leadership Initiative
The Eagle Global Leadership Initiative's mission is to serve communities through education with the intent of fostering active global citizens. EGLI has always focused on providing access to experiential, globally-aware education through the use of civic and Model UN focused topics. Volunteers work with Boston-area schools to foster Model UN clubs and help in civics classes. For schools volunteers are unable to reach, the EGLI website is a source of long form articles about international affairs and informative videos about the function of the UN. EGLI also serves as a source of financial aid for schools who want to attend EagleMUNC.
Eagle Coalition for Global Citizenship
The Eagle Coalition for Global Citizenship, whose mission is to promote global citizenship through community, education, and innovation, is the newest branch of the Eagle Institute. This organization is dedicated to global citizenship – the idea that individuals have responsibilities as citizens of the world, as well as duties to their particular nation. Their goal is to create a community of different perspectives so as to better understand global politics as a whole. Innovation within the Eagle Coalition represents a forward-thinking future where global citizens continue to foster international communities in new ways. As Former Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon once said, "keep your head in the clouds, and two feet planted firmly on the ground." Through dialogue, research, and article publications the Eagle Coalition strives to break down national boundaries and support the ideals of United Nations global citizenship.
