Welcome Letter from The EIX Secretary-General

5/28/2020

Dear Advisors, Delegates, and Friends of EagleMUNC,

I am honored and excited to welcome you to our ninth iteration of EagleMUNC! We are grateful for your choice to consider us as a conference you and your delegation would like to attend. After much disappointment of EagleMUNC VIII’s cancellation, we have been overjoyed and eager to begin our work planning next year's conference. We are working hard on our end to ensure to each delegate and every advisor that EagleMUNC IX will be the most innovative and engaging conference in the Model UN Circuit yet. From Friday’s opening ceremony to Sunday’s final bang of our gavel, delegates will be immersed in their committees through our 40-hour-simulation, embracing their roles, solving problems comprehensively, and collaborating with their peers. We will challenge and push delegates to resolve spontaneous problems, adapt to new situations, learn everything they can to the fullest, make friendships and connections, and enjoy their time at EagleMUNC. Our hope is that delegates will take away so many more valuable insights, knowledge, and skills than what they will arrive with.

EagleMUNC IX will offer eighteen diverse and unique committees that are specialized and crisis driven. Our committees will range from classic General Assembly experiences, to unconventional crisis committees including our Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General and our Thematic committee. From our General Assemblies to our Crisis Committees, each delegate will be tasked with reaching realistic solutions to our world's most pressing issues while relying on teamwork and diplomacy to do so. Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in substantive and fulfilling debate and will partake in the sharing of different perspectives and ideas in all of our committee’s forms and styles. Our average EagleMUNC committee size is about 30 delegates, with an unprecedented delegate-to-staff ratio of 5:1.

EagleMUNC IX is proud to offer its most diverse array of committees with a wide range of differing time periods and geographic regions. However, our assorted committees are bound by one overarching theme: “Building a Brighter Future.” As we consider the world we live in we must decide whether we hold onto our past successes or reach for new technological, social, and political advancements. During EagleMUNC IX, delegates will analyze and debate the actions of past people and parties that embraced change and strove to create a bigger and better future for generations to come. Committees such as Tycoons and Silicon Cabinet will lead delegates to explore how technological advancement can be used to improve the lives of thousands, but also how it may endanger the lives of billions and lead to more inequality if left unchecked. Committees such as the Convention on International Trade In Endangered Species and The World Tourism Organization will encourage delegates to discover how environmental issues disproportionately impact developing nations. By employing political agreements and advancements as well as technological developments, delegates will find ways to improve the environment while also alleviating poverty. As delegates immerse themselves in committees such as these listed above, we invite them to step out of their comfort zone and explore points of view they have not yet considered. Delegates will strive to reach solutions that benefit individuals, nations, and the world while trying to achieve the common good of society today and in the future.

We are fortunate for the opportunity  to host our conference in a city with such a rich history, something that makes our conference extraordinarily unique and special. As the progenitor of the American Revolution, Boston has a complex and fascinating history but also is the home and center of education and American culture. This year we are excited to present  a committee that is based in the New England Area, The Journey and Settlement of the Pilgrims. This committee will take place around the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing in the New World. This encourages delegates to not only embrace their position and time period but also to embrace the greater Boston area and the influence it has had on the creation of the United States. To enhance this experience and encourage all of our delegates to take advantage of our conference's special and important location, we invite  you to come with us as we explore as much of the historic city as we can. We welcome you to join us in our Thursday@Boston program in which we will provide a guided tour of some of Boston’s most exciting and historical venues. We hope you enjoy the city as much as we do!

EagleMUNC offers an unparalleled Model UN experience and we work diligently to provide quality customer service. We take feedback seriously; responding to concerns and issues promptly is a tenet on which our whole organization is constructed. Only with your feedback can we achieve the exceptional standards we aspire to deliver. If you have any questions or concerns at any juncture during our EagleMUNC IX experience please do not hesitate reach out to me at sg@eaglemunc.org.

On behalf of the entire EagleMUNC family, we thank you for choosing our conference. Our team of 100+ staffers is working earnestly and passionately to ensure that your experience with us is truly memorable and will exceed your every expectation.

From our family to yours, we wish you good health in the coming months as we turn the corner from these uncertain times to a brighter future ahead.

Welcome to EagleMUNC IX!

Sincerely,
Christiane Paulhus

EagleMUNC VIII Canceled due to Covid-19

3/13/2020

Dear EagleMUNC Delegates and Advisors,

It’s with great sadness that I announce that at this time EagleMUNC VIII is canceled. I would like to thank every delegate and advisor for their hard work and enthusiasm for this conference. We understand that many advisors and parents may have many questions. The corporate team, as well as the Secretariat, will be updating you all as soon as we can. Thank you so much for your continued trust and support of EagleMUNC, we can’t wait to see you next year!

First and foremost thank you for your continued trust in EagleMUNC. We have had an amazing eight years and we hope we will be able to continue to cultivate a great relationship with all schools that come to EagleMUNC. I would like to apologize for the uncertainty over the course of these past two weeks. Our corporate team has been working vigorously to figure out various contractual obligations so we haven’t been able to make an official statement.

Regarding refunds, we are currently working specifically on a refund strategy for all delegations and will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

David Keene
